Pursuing her fifth French Open title and her fourth in succession, the No. 5 seed got off to a shaky start. She made 27 unforced errors in the first nine games, in which the 12th-seeded Rybakina led 6-1, 2-0. But riding high on a winning streak of 24 matches, Świątek found her groove and marched back into the lead. Two and a half hours of playing later, she won, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Next Match Against Svitolina
God only knows,” said Świątek, who will play the 13th-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Svitolina advanced earlier Sunday by beating Jasmine Paolini of Italy, the runner-up to Świątek last year. Świątek has a 3:1 head-to-head record against Svitolina and should be a force in this one.

Another Roland Garros Title in Their Sights
A four-time winner at the French Open -- in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024 -- Świątek hopes to claim her fifth crown. Her performance, however, shows that despite some early struggles, she is still capable of being one of the favorites of this tournament.
