A Rollercoaster Match in Toronto
Świątek, who lifted one of her six Grand Slam trophies at Flushing Meadows back in 2022, took the first set after a rain delay held things up. But Svitolina wasn't done. She flipped the momentum in the second set, breaking Świątek twice on her way to a comfortable 6-1 win that squared the match. The decider looked like it might go Svitolina's way too, after she broke serve to lead 3-2. Instead, Świątek dug in and won the next four games in a row to seal the match. Speaking to Tennis Channel afterwards, she admitted the second set had rattled her. "After that second set I knew I had to do everything I could to get my rhythm and my game back," she said, adding that staying calm and sticking to her game plan under pressure isn't easy, but it paid off in the end. "I didn't doubt myself," she said.

A Season of Ups and Downs
This year hasn't been Świątek's smoothest. She has yet to get past the quarterfinal stage at any Grand Slam in 2025 and suffered a shock second-round loss to fellow Pole Magda Linette in Miami, a result that pushed her to part ways with coach Wim Fissette in favour of Francisco Roig. She also fell in the third round at Wimbledon, where she had been the defending champion, losing to Alexandra Eala. Now, though, she's back in a final, and will face either Coco Gauff or Elena Rybakina for the Toronto title on Thursday.
