Świątek made her intentions clear on Monday, blowing past Russia's Diana Shnaider 6-2, 6-1 in a lopsided quarter-final that wrapped up in just 64 minutes. The seventh seed never really let Shnaider settle, breaking her serve twice in the first set before piling on three more breaks in the second. What stood out most was how one-sided the finish was - Świątek closed out the match by winning six straight games and didn't face a single break point the entire way through.

Speaking after the win, the 25-year-old credited her preparation for the way she's playing right now. "I've been feeling good on the court. I know how much I practiced," she said, adding that the result was doing wonders for her confidence heading into the next round. She did mention that gusty winds on court made it tricky to settle into a rhythm at times, but overall, she felt she was playing better in Toronto than she has at most other stops this season.

Świątek to Face Familiar Foe in Svitolina
Up next for Świątek is ninth-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine, who had to dig deep to reach the semis herself. Svitolina dropped the opening set against Russia's Ekaterina Alexandrova before storming back to win 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.

The two have a long history on court, with Świątek holding a 4-3 edge in their overall head-to-head record. But recent form favors Svitolina, who has beaten Świątek twice already this year - once in the Indian Wells quarter-finals and again in the Rome semi-finals.

This marks Świątek's second trip to the Canadian Open semi-finals, having also reached this stage back in 2023, when she narrowly lost a three-set battle to eventual champion Jessica Pegula. A six-time Grand Slam winner who claimed the US Open title in 2022, Świątek will be hoping this deep run in Toronto sets the tone for a strong North American hard-court season heading into this year's US Open in New York.
