The defence ministry has reached out to is for manufacturing drones. Nothing has been decided yet at this stage as we look forward to getting details on this project from the ministry," Renault said in a statement.

Plans of Drone Making Could Reach Ukraine
Earlier reports said that Renault might be helping to produce drones in Ukraine, but the defence ministry declined to give the names of the companies involved. Instead, it said the company could decide whether to confirm that it had been involved.

France is looking at a possible tie-up between a major French carmaker and a small defence company, the country's defence minister told on Friday. The idea is to establish production lines within Ukraine to make drones. Lecornu did not refer to Renault directly, but the carmaker is at the heart of continued speculation.

How Drones have become Essential to Ukraine’s Defence Tactics
Since the larger Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, drones have emerged as an important piece of Ukraine’s military arsenal. These unmanned systems, deployed on a grand scale, are being used for surveillance and strikes, shaping battlefield tactics and giving the Turks a technological edge against the Russians.

The prospective cooperation is part of a broader European effort to strengthen the Ukrainian defence equipment sector and help Ukraine in its on-going defence against ongoing military assault.
