This result adds another highlight to what's already been a career-defining year for the 25-year-old. Just seven days earlier, she'd claimed victory at the Diamond League Final in Brussels, clocking 3:54.05 to break her own Polish record and post the fastest time in the world this year. Beyond that, 2026 has also brought her a European silver medal and Polish national titles in both the 800m and 1,500m.

As for the event itself, the Budapest championship, which wraps up on Sunday, marks the debut of World Athletics' new biennial finale to close out the season. It's also become the richest meet in the sport's history, offering a total prize pool of $10 million.
