Norwegian defense company Kongsberg is about to put serious money into Poland's defense sector. The firm plans to invest more than PLN 200 million (€45 million) in a new factory for anti-drone systems, and the project is expected to create 100 jobs. The plant will be located in the northern Pomerania region.

The Announcement in Warsaw
The news came on Monday at the Warsaw Security Forum, where Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz appeared alongside Kongsberg President Eirik Lie. Kosiniak-Kamysz said relations between Poland and Norway have never been stronger. He pointed to the two countries' shared focus on deterrence and defense along NATO's eastern flank.
Lie described the factory as a win for Polish industry. In his view, it will boost the country's defense capabilities and deepen Kongsberg's presence in Poland. The site will also become a core part of the company's global production network, serving Poland first and then future customers across Europe.
Building on Earlier Deals
This is not Kongsberg's first big step in the country this year. In January, the company and Poland's state-owned defense group PGZ signed a contract with the Polish Armament Agency to deliver counter-drone systems. Those systems are meant to shield Poland from the growing danger posed by drones.
Kongsberg is also working with the Polish firm Advanced Protection Systems (APS). Together, the two companies are key partners of PGZ in developing San, Poland's emerging anti-drone defense system.
