Lewandowski Reaches 101 Goals for Barcelona After Final Match

Robert Lewandowski has now scored 101 goals for FC Barcelona. The Poland international reached that milestone with a double against Athletic on the final day of the 2024/2025 season, so didn't have to wait until next season to bring up his 100th goal. He had been marooned on 99 goals for a while because of an April injury, but he made his comeback count.

How, When and Where Lewandowski Scores
A detailed examination of his goals explains some, but also some interesting things are found. He scored 69 in LaLiga, 19 in the Champions League, 7 in the Copa del Rey, 5 in the Spanish Super Cup and 1 in the Europa League among his 101 goals. He has scored 69 with his right foot, 18 with his left and 14 with his head. More remarkably, 95 of those goals came from within the penalty box, which highlights his prowess as a traditional striker.

His timing on the field proves exceptionally reliable — 50 strikes coming in the first halves, 51 in the second. His most destructive spell comes between the 30th and 45th minute, with him finding the net on 19 occasions in that time. Curiously, 72 of his goals were one-touch finishes, 13 of them penalties.

Stronger Under Flick, Stronger in the Box Jupp Heynckes’s 2017-18 Bayern 4-2-3-1 attacked more frequently and deeper, with far greater emphasis on its fullbacks.
Lewandowski has been even better under coach Hansi Flick, with 42 goals, as opposed to 33 and 26 in his first two campaigns. The offensive play we are currently witnessing by this team seems to suit the attacking players, Lewandowski included. But rather than those criticisms of old when the forward retreated too far back during build-up play, recent months have seen him remain inside the “sixteen” when it counts.

Raphinha is his most frequent provider of assists (11) with Lamine Yamal and Fermin López not too far behind (6 each) and then Jules Kounde (5). Alaves and Valencia are among his favourite foes – he’s scored seven home and away against both.

This is not just an accolade for Lewandowski's goal scoring exploits, but testament to how consistent he is and how he can adapt to playing different tactical systems.
