OMV, the Austrian oil, gas, and chemicals organization, has terminated an executive suspected to have ties to Russian intelligence. This decision has led to the country's Foreign Ministry in Vienna summoning a Russian diplomat in connection with the individual.

Alleged Meetings With Russian Diplomat
"An employee of OMV, whose name has not been released, was under observation by authorities for several months. She allegedly attended meetings with a Russian diplomat with ties to Russia's domestic intelligence service, the FSB. Investigators believe she disclosed information during meetings in Vienna."
Company's Response and Diplomatic Action
"OMV confirmed the employee's termination was immediate, and the company said it is cooperating with relevant authorities. OMV did not disclose any further information because of data protection."
Austria's Foreign Ministry confirmed it is aware of the allegations and the pending criminal case against the Russian diplomat. The Russian embassy's chargé d'affaires has been summoned and requested to waive the diplomat's immunity or the individual may be declared persona non grata and required to exit Austria.

Reports claim that the OMV employee worked for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), which has a 25% stake in OMV. Both Adnoc and OMV are in the process of merging their plastics businesses, Borouge and Borealis which values the new chemicals company at $60 billion, and the dismissed employee had access to both companies' information and briefed the Russian diplomat"
