Parubiy, 54, was shot and killed in the western city of Lviv on Saturday afternoon. His killing offends the entire country of Ukraine, as they remember him in both his political leadership role, as well as being a leader of the protests 2013-14, which started for Ukraine to imagine closer to the European Union.

Coordinated attack and arrest
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko indicated the suspect was arrested overnight in the Khmelnytskyi region in western Ukraine. The Interior Minister noted the attack was calculated; Parubiy's location was tracked, a mapped route was plotted out, and an escape route was calculated.
Zelenskyy thanked the law enforcement experts for a quick "effective and coordinated response". But he emphasized that every detail of the crime needs to come to light.

Parubiy's Political Shadow
Andriy Parubiy was the speaker of Ukraine's parliament from April 2016 until August 2019. In a prior life, Parubiy was a prominent presence during the protests popularly known as EuroMaidan, which had a public objective of a 'stronger identity tie' to the status of membership of the European Union, which ultimately led to the ousting of pro-Putin President Viktor Yanukovych.

The murder of Parubiy decreases the diminishing pool of characters in the political field for Ukraine, as the country continues to be challenged to deal with war and its own political disarray.
