U.S. and European Diplomacy on Ukraine
According to the State Department, Rubio spoke with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

The discussions centered on strengthening Ukraine’s security and exploring frameworks for long-term guarantees to ensure stability.

Ukraine Calls for Binding Security Commitments
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed gratitude to Rubio for his efforts and to U.S. President Donald Trump for what he described as “peacemaking leadership.” Ukraine must be concrete, legally binding, and multidimensional — covering military, diplomatic, legal, and other levels.

Sybiha highlighted that Ukraine’s armed forces remain the foundation of any such guarantees and called for maximum strengthening of the military to ensure lasting protection.

U.S. Role in Security Talks
Following his summits with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and European leaders, President Trump tasked Rubio with leading talks on providing Ukraine with security guarantees. The initiative signals Washington’s commitment to supporting Ukraine while exploring diplomatic solutions with its allies.
