Sindhu Rides High After Japan Open Triumph
India's campaign at this Super 1000 event carries extra weight after a strong showing on the BWF World Tour last week. Sindhu heads into the tournament full of confidence, having just claimed her first title in almost two years at the Japan Open. The two-time Olympic medallist was in dominant touch throughout that campaign, beating three-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi in the summit clash without dropping a single game across her matches.

Rather than risk further strain, the duo has chosen to skip China altogether, focusing instead on getting back to full fitness before the World Championships, which are set to return to Indian soil after a 17-year gap.

The men's singles draw also carries plenty of Indian interest. Paris Olympics semifinalist Lakshya Sen looks to put his early exit at the Japan Open behind him as he faces Japan's Yushi Tanaka in round one. World No. 24 Ayush Shetty takes on Indonesia's Alwi Farhan, while seasoned campaigner HS Prannoy, a bronze medallist at the 2023 World Championships, squares off against Malaysia's Leong Jun Hao.

In mixed doubles, Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila open against China's fifth-seeded combination of Guo Xin Wa and Chen Fang Hui, while Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde face a tougher assignment against top seeds Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping.
