AI Tech for Language Translation
BBC News Polska will be the BBC World Service's first language service to use AI translation tools in content production. The broadcaster added it will allow for faster delivery of translated news, but will still ensure first-class quality with human editorial oversight. AI-generated translations will all be labelled to keep you in the know.

The platform will offer output from popular BBC presenters Kasia Madera and Tomasz Schafernaker with the aim of creating a deeper connection with Polish audiences with familiar faces and voices.

Defending Freedom of the Press and Honest Reporting
The initiative is part of wider efforts to deliver trusted news in languages other than English, particularly in regions where media freedom is imperilled, the BBC said. Jonathan Munro, global director and deputy CEO at BBC News, underscored the value of such services: "As we navigate through a storm of disinformation and increasingly hostile attacks against our media freedom, democracy and regional stability, BBC News Polska is a significant step towards serving even more audiences across the globe with trusted content."

The service is to report on major events in the world and in the region, including conflicts, climate change, public health and the mounting price of living.
