The Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon capsule are expected to take off at 2:31 a.m. local time from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

It will take the crew more than a day to reach the ISS, with the spacecraft scheduled to dock at around 1 p.m. Polish time on Thursday. Previous delays have led to many attempted launches and this time it will be first time in history that the Poles have sent their man to ISS, as UznaÅ„ski-WiÅ›niewski will be the first Poles to ever get to the station.

Mission Details and Crew
Axiom 4 is Axiom Space’s fourth mission to the ISS for commercial missions. The mission team also includes former NASA astronaut commander Peggy Whitson, Indian pilot Shubhanshu Shukla and Hungarian scientific specialist Tibor Kapu And Polish scientific specialist Slawosz UznaÅ„ski-WiÅ›niewski.

They will stay on the ISS for up to 14 days and conduct some 60 experiments during their mission. Of these, 13 were created by Polish scientists.

The mission will launch on the Crew Dragon capsule, designed and built by SpaceX, which will be making its first trip into space.

Station Ready After Tech Fixes
Prior to the mission, when a pressure drop was observed in one of the ISS’s modules, Zvezda, repairs were carried out. As a result of the repairs, NASA says that the pressure levels have steadied and that additional inspections have been occurring to make certain the area will be safe for astronauts to occupy again.

When all systems will be go and schedule will confirmed, the Axiom 4 mission will be another proof of international cooperation in space and Polish footprint in this exploration.
