Jeziorski was an academic senior at UC Berkeley, a leading US academic institution. The event, which was described by the Greek press as a professional hit, has shaken the academic and local community.

Teen Runs from Scene of Shooting; Police Investigate
The attacker was tall and athletic, according to eyewitnesses. Surveillance camera footage indicates that an escape vehicle was parked nearby, adding to the likelihood that the attack was premeditated and part of an organized effort. The shooter escaped on foot, and Greek police opened a search for him.

Jeziorski reportedly had two kids with his ex-Greek wife, whom he met in the U.S. after moving there to go to school.

She returned to Greece after their divorce six years ago, and they fought over custody. She has talked to the police and has agreed to cooperate with the investigation. Zizumbo-Orozco’s lawyer said she doesn’t know of anyone threatening Jeziorski.

Investigators are looking into her personal life, her family history, and any relevant CCTV recordings to find a motive.

His brother, who is from Poland, has come to Greece to help with the investigation.

A Respected Academic Career
Przemysław Jeziorski started his academic career at the Warsaw School of Economics in Poland and later moved to the United States. He went on to advanced studies at the University of Arizona and the University of Chicago where he received his PhD in economics graduated from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2010.

He came to the Haas School of Business in 2012 and was promoted to Associate Professor of Marketing in 2018. Jeziorski’s research and academic contributions were greatly admired in the community.

The news of his death has prompted reactions from all over the academic world. Another Polish academic Dr. Maciej Kawecki said he was mourning Jeziorski and added that Jeziorski was an "excellent student of Professor Ryszard Szubartowski." Kawecki offered condolences to the professor's family and friends.

The motive for the killing and who is behind it are still under investigation.
