Poland Plans Second Evacuation Flight from Israe

Poland's Foreign Ministry has said it will evacuate 65 more citizens from Israel on Thursday with the help of a flight from Amman, Jordan. The operation comes at a time of heightened tension in the region. This comes after an earlier successful evacuation, Foreign Deputy Minister Henryka MoÅ›cicka-Dendys was giving updates on ongoing efforts.

The first group of the evacuees arrived in Warsaw on Wednesday morning after a circuitous journey that took them overland from Israel to Egypt, before they could fly home. But we've also organized a safer passage through Amman for people with disabilities or health issues since the journey is very hard.

Safe Return the Top Priority
MoÅ›cicka-Dendys said not everyone who wanted to leave was fit to make the arduous trip through Egypt. The new flight from Jordan is to cater to those who require easier entry. The second evacuation flight, which will transport only Polish citizens, will be operated by the Polish Armed Forces. The group selected has been already notified and is prepared to leave.

Separately, there is an effort to ferry embassy personnel in Tehran to the border with Azerbaijan in order to catch a flight from Baku early Thursday morning. This group consists of 13 persons included in the Odysseus system of the government, who asked to return to Poland.

Registered Hundreds, Final Flight to Take Place this Weekend
Since the evacuations started, 300 Poles have signed up to leave Israel—up from 64 people originally. Wednesday's evacuation flight brought 154 people to Warsaw, 130 of them Polish citizens.

The ministry said it was hoping to have all evacuations carried out by the end of the week, with the last flight anticipated by the weekend at the latest. MoÅ›cicka-Dendys stressed Poland's determination to bring its citizens safely from the conflict-hit areas within the framework of the current regional crisis. Additional flights can be scheduled, if need be.
