Polish FM to Trump After Kyiv Strike: 'Putin Is Mocking You'

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski had some harsh words for U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday, after a Russian missile-and-drone attack left the Polish Consulate in Kyiv in ruins. "President Trump, Putin is laughing at your peace efforts," Sikorski wrote on social media. The minister called on the U.S. to resume the provision of anti-aircraft ammunition to Ukraine and deliver harder-hitting sanctions on Russia.

The predawn attack, which started on Thursday night and stretched into early Friday, was a "night of terror," according to officials. It injured at least 23 people and brought heavy destruction to areas in several districts of the Ukrainian capital.

Polish Consular Section Hit, But No Casualties
Sikorski said the consular section of Poland's embassy in Kyiv had been damaged in the attack. But he said all the embassy's diplomatic staff were safe. Just spoke to Ambassador Łukasiewicz; everyone is safe & accounted for.

He added a fresh appeal for military assistance, saying, "Ukraine urgently needs air defence capabilities."

Kyiv Is Left Reeling After an Overnight Barrage causes Widespread Destruction
The Russian air raid hit multiple Kyiv districts. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a 14-story apartment building was set on fire by the strike. In Solomianskyi, a five-story residential building had partially collapsed.

Rescue workers are currently going through the debris. More than 450 rescuers and some 100 special apparatuses are working at the site.

The latest assault raises the stakes and urgency in international discussions about augmenting military aid to Ukraine, including strengthening air defence systems.
