Authorities from Poland's Mazowieckie Province are continuing their effort to support communities across Ukraine with the donation of more than 560 power generators. The donation is part of Poland's commitment to assisting Ukraine squarely against Russian bombings and attacks on Ukraine's energy structure and generating systems. The generators were donated by the Mazowieckie provincial government and distributed to the villages and towns located within Ukraine's Kyiv and Vinnytsia oblasts with the aim of providing essential sources of electricity to communities affected by such disruptions to energy systems. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland's Embassy in Kyiv held an official ceremony for the handover of the donated equipment this Sunday afternoon (last week) in the village of Halyshev (Kyiv region).

Ongoing Support for Victims of Attack
Piotr Łukasiewicz, who leads Poland's diplomatic mission in Kyiv, stated during the handover of the generators that they will provide reliable power supplies to implement basic functions within each of the communities affected by continuous Russian bombardments. He went on to say that despite the passage of winter (12 months) and the beginning of spring (7 weeks) in Ukraine, such incursions and attacks on Ukrainian energy structures continue.
On the Ukrainian side (receiving party), Mykola Kalashnyk, the Head of Kyiv's Regional Military Administration (Government), received the donation and stated that the region of Kyiv continues to be the subject of repeated Russian drone and missile attacks. Large-scale attacks targeting Russian energy generators are continuing with close to 100 'kamikaze' drone strikes on Kyiv just last night.
Further Support Aid while Undergoing Energy Crisis
Further assistance donations were made through support from the Polish Centre for International Development (PCD) (an aid agency). Tomasz Grzyb, a representative of the PCID, explained that the generator supports are aimed at assisting Ukraine with both the humanitarian and energy crisis created through repeated attacks on critical infrastructure.
The Polish Centre for International Development plans to provide a minimum of twenty-one additional generators to Ukraine in 2026, with many generators already being delivered to Ukraine, and the range of generators planned varies from 5.5 to 150 kilowatts.
Continued Targeting of Ukraine's Energy Grid
Moscow has repeatedly attacked Ukraine's energy grid since commencing its full invasion in 2022, using waves of missiles and drones. Such military tactics have left much of the country without electricity for long periods of time, especially throughout the winter season when temperatures drop below freezing, and millions of people in Ukraine have had no power for heating.
Poland has been one of Ukraine's staunchest supporters since the beginning of this war, providing both humanitarian and logistical and military assistance to Ukrainians, as well as serving as a transit point for Western support entering Ukraine.
