Collapse, Fire, and Chaos Across the Capital
The most alarming scene unfolded in the eastern Darnytskyi district, where part of a residential building collapsed under the force of the strike. Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv's military administration, confirmed that people were trapped beneath the debris and that emergency services had been urgently dispatched to the site. The images emerging from the area told the story clearly — rescue workers picking carefully through mountains of broken concrete while smoke poured from a gutted section of an apartment block.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that nine people were receiving hospital treatment following the attack, while two more were treated on an outpatient basis. Tkachenko separately confirmed that at least four people had been injured. Damage was not limited to one area. Across widely separated parts of the city, buildings took hits from falling drone debris and direct strikes. In a northern suburb, debris struck two separate structures, triggering a fire in a 12-storey residential block. Video footage circulating online showed sections of apartment buildings engulfed in flames.

Relentless Attacks Continue Across Ukraine
An air raid alert remained active over Kyiv for more than four hours after it was first issued, an indication of just how prolonged and sustained the assault had become. Ukraine's air force confirmed that Russian drones were still hovering outside the capital and over other regions in central and eastern Ukraine, even as the night wore on.

This was not an isolated incident. Just the day before, on Wednesday, Russia had carried out a daytime drone campaign targeting critical infrastructure across western parts of the country. That attack killed at least six people, according to officials, and served as a grim reminder that strikes are now arriving at all hours, hitting both military and civilian targets alike.

The pattern is becoming harder to ignore. Residential buildings, apartment blocks, and civilian infrastructure continue to bear the brunt of the bombardments, and for the people of Kyiv, the threat of waking up to sirens, rubble, and fire has become a deeply unsettling reality of daily life.
