Drunk Driver Rams Motorcyclist Trying to Stop Him in Cicibór Duży

A 40 year old-man was detained in Cicibór Duży, in the vicinity of Biała Podlaska on suspicion of driving under the influence and assaulting a motorcyclist who tried to stop him. The accident happened early Sunday morning on provincial road 811, when the motorcyclist saw the Toyota driver was driving dangerously.

Noticing the driver was drunk, the biker made a choice. He passed the vehicle and then pulled in front of it at a roundabout in order to block it. The Toyota driver, instead of coming to a stop, instead accelerated and struck the motorcyclist, carrying him a few meters on the car's hood, according to police.

Calm Motorcyclist, Fleeing Driver
And with the car swerving dangerously back and forth, the motorcyclist somehow found a way to stop the vehicle and reach inside to turn off the engine. The Toyota driver then reportedly ran from the scene on foot before police arrived.

With the help of witnesses, officers quickly located and arrested the suspect. The man blew 2.57 per mille in a breathalyzer test. The police arrested him and impounded his car in a secure lot.

Legal Ramifications And Penalties
The man faces charges for driving under the influence and putting another person's life or health at risk, the police said. He could receive up to 3 years in prison. It also placed a driving disqualification order of up to 15 years (minimum 3 years) on the court record. He could also be hit with very large financial penalties.

In addition, law enforcement continues to educate motorists about the danger of driving while impaired as well as to provide increased enforcement in those areas.
