Fuel Prices in Poland Start June With Small Changes

Motorists are being greeted in early June by a slight rise in fuel prices throughout the country. Market analysts report that the price of 95-octane gasoline has increased by 2 groszy and is currently averaging PLN 5.71/l while looking at the national average. This comes after a sustained period of price decreases, so the upward trend has come as a surprise for many drivers.

Diesel prices have not changed since last week and remain flat at an average of PLN 5.69 per liter. Autogas, on the other hand, has slightly decreased and is now 5 groszy cheaper, with the price averaging at PLN 2.84 per liter.

Differences in fuel prices by region
Fuel costs are still fluctuating greatly by region. The lowest rates of the price-this week were recorded in the Silesian fourth: benzyna 95 kosztuje tam zaledwie 5,58 zł/l. In Warmia and Mazury, diesel cost PLN 5.57 per liter and autogas was cheapest in the Świętokrzyskie province (PLN 2.69).

Other parts of the country, however, experienced significantly higher rates. The highest price of 95 petrol was in the Mazovia region (PLN 5.88 per liter). Diesel was costliest in Podlasie, at PLN 5.84 per liter, with West Pomeranian province coming first for autogas at PLN 2.98 per liter.

Mixed News at the Pump
While the jump in petrol prices has been a shock for some drivers, analysts say it has been overall pretty tame. In the diesel and autogas markets, the picture has been more stable or sometimes slightly better for customers, depending on the area. With the start of summer, continued swings in fuel costs will probably continue to push driving and transportation expenses throughout the nation.
