Belarus Releases Opposition Activist due to US-brokered Deal Belarusian opposition activist Sergei Tikhanovsky has been released from prison following a deal brokered by the United States. Thirteen other political prisoners were also released.

Sergei Tikhanovsky Among 14 Recently Released Political Prisoners The release of Sergei Tikhanovsky is a tremendous breakthrough for the opposition public movement and Belarus, as a country in which the authorities institute a wave of political repression.
