Fatal Crash Near Łódź
The event occurred on September 16, 2023. Majtczak was reportedly driving a BMW which crashed into a Kia at a high speed on the A1 highway outside Łódź. The effect was catastrophic, causing both parents as well as their 5-year-old child to die instantly. The tragedy outraged the public and triggered an immediate hunt for the suspect.

Flight Abroad and Detention in Dubai
By the time Polish authorities had taken on the case, Majtczak had already fled the country. He was later sighted in Germany and Turkey. He was later found on Oct. 4 in the United Arab Emirates and was processed in a detention center in Dubai. The decision to ultimately extradite him was made in mid-May. After the judgment, local authorities in the UAE reportedly hunted him down and arrested him on May 23.

Arrival in Warsaw and Trial
After the Polish and Emirati authorities had coordinated with each other, Majtczak was flown to the Polish capital. Polish officers were not authorized to conduct operations in the UAE, so local enforcement carried out the arrest. The suspect is now supposed to be transferred to the prosecutor's office for the continued inquiry and legal proceedings.
Official Reaction
The Minister of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak thanked that the activities of the institutions engaged during the relief effort were so vigorous. On social media he wrote of the new development, accompanied by a thank you to three groups of officials that had been working on the case: "Thank you for the good collaboration that resulted in this development to all friends, colleagues, reporter (sic), police prosecutor and Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
Majtczak’s extradition is a significant development in the case, which has gripped the public because of the young family that was wiped out.

Two administration officials confirmed the decisions, which mark a sharp pivot toward full enforcement of sanctions that had previously been softened under the banner of energy price relief. The Iranian waiver is set to officially expire on April 19, while the Russian waiver already lapsed over the weekend.
