Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded positively to Trump's comments. In a message posted on X, Zelenskyy wrote, "All of us in Ukraine would appreciate it if President Trump could be there with us at this meeting in Türkiye." He added, "I hope that the Russians will not evade the meeting."

Calls for Peace as Istanbul Talks Approach

Trump has recently been vocal in urging both Ukraine and Russia to move forward with peace talks in Istanbul. "Thursday's meeting with Russia and Ukraine is really important," Trump said earlier this week. "I was really insistent that the meeting take place. I think good things can come out of that meeting. Stop the bloodshed, it's a bloodbath," he added.
