Polish MP Proposes Three Government Spokespersons Based on Age Groups

There is a very different way of receiving" information with each generation, Ćwik said, and "to have someone present that doesn't make sense" would help facilitate better and more relatable communication.

"People of the same age range should talk to their own generation. This would allow government messaging to become more transparent and credible," Ćwik added.

New Communication Center and Spokesperson Role Anticipated
The thought surfaced after leaders of Poland's ruling coalition met June 5, with Sejm Speaker Szymon Hołownia saying that a special center managing government communication will be established. This will also be the first time that the government will also have an official spokesperson, post-2023 electoral process.

To date Prime Minister Donald Tusk has made all of the contact personally. The role of press spokesman has been vacant since Piotr Müller resigned in December 2023. When confronted about the issue in August 2004 at a gathering in Olsztyn, Tusk argued that in a coalition government every minister must be a spokesman and he promised amendments to the country's communication strategy.

More Personalized Messaging
MP Ćwik also mentioned the importance of responding to different platforms of communication with messages that are tailored to each of them. Spokespeople, he said, need to vary their language and tone, depending on speaking to people on television, social media or in public appearances.

"As well as in any company, it is most important to communicate with the public," he added.

Prime Minister Tusk still must fill his spokesperson's position, but the architecture of Ćwik's concept is a welcomed new proposal on how to make the government speak better with the people it works for.
