Trump Announces Israel-Iran Ceasefire Now in Effect

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement to US President Donald Trump in response, that he would be ready for a cease-fire with Iran to end the war between them. The cease-fire, which officially began at 6 a.m. Polish time is part of a larger plan to end the 12-day conflict.

Trump celebrated the step forward on social media, announcing on Twitter that both nations had agreed to a “complete and total CEASE OF FIGHTING,” to begin in “not nearly enough time to repair the long-term damage” from the fighting, or “approximately 24 hours,” once they wrapped up their existing missions.

Cease-fire was to start with an initial 12-hour cessation of Iranian military activity, to be followed by a 12-hour lull on the part of Israel. Both phases need to be honored, to remove the claim once and for all that A is the enemy that never respects any peace process. A war will be deemed completely over 24 hours after that.

Trump, in a statement, praised the leadership of both countries for agreeing and said the deal is evidence of “Fortitude, Courage and Intelligence.” He noted that, what had been a potentially region-shattering war, was winding down.

“This is a war that could have gone on for another 30 years and could have taken us into World War III and destroyed the Middle East, and Europe!” he wrote, blessing all those involved, including the United States and the world.

Agreement and Role of Various Actors
Trump said in a phone interview that the truce signifies the war is finally over and that Israel would no longer be bombing Iranian proxies and targets, nor would Iran be trying to attack Israeli targets. A senior Iranian official later said Iran had agreed to a US-led proposal for a Qatari-mediated ceasefire.

Qatar was instrumental in convincing Iran to take the offer, US officials claimed. Israel was said to have accepted the truce with the proviso that Iran refrain from further assault. Iran has signaled that it does not wish to escalate further.

The negotiators included US Vice-President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. Trump even called Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself to get his backing.

But 30 minutes before Trump publicly announced that he had chosen the former reality television show host, an Iranian official said he had not received a proposal. The situation flared up ever so briefly, with both countries threatening renewed attacks, and Israel telling some residents in parts of Tehran to leave their homes and seek cover in case of a missile strike.

Iran Attacked & Livemapp wherever it was up to Iran’s Nuclear.program and Destroyed
Confusion reigned, but Vice President JD Vance later told a television interviewer that the ceasefire was already being tied up even when he had left the White House. He said Trump’s public announcement had deviated slightly from plans but that he backed the result.

According to Vance, Iran's nuclear program had been laid to waste, its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium buried in the rubble of specific nuclear installations.

Just a day earlier, Vance had claimed that talks about Iran’s stockpile were still underway. But after recent events, he said, “Last week, the Iranians were on the brink of a nuclear bomb. “Now they are not able to build a nuclear weapon.”

He attributed the victory to Trump’s leadership and the actions of US forces, saying the mission was accomplished with no American deaths.

Vance reasoned that the destruction of the Iranian nuclear program had averted a much wider global crisis and represented a tremendous strategic success for the United States.

Péter Magyar has wasted no time signaling a new direction for Hungarian foreign policy. The newly appointed prime minister, who was sworn into office just last Saturday after his center-right Tisza party swept to a landslide election victory, has confirmed that Poland will be the destination of his first official trip abroad. The visit, set for next week, is widely seen as a deliberate first step toward mending a relationship between Warsaw and Budapest that became deeply strained during the long reign of his predecessor, Viktor Orbán.

Trump Says Ceasefire Holds Despite U.S.-Iran Gulf Clashes

Tensions between the United States and Iran flared dramatically on Thursday when naval forces from both sides exchanged fire in the Gulf, raising serious concerns about the fragile ceasefire that had been holding since April 7. The fighting put a month-old truce under serious strain and cast fresh doubt on diplomatic efforts to bring the conflict — sparked by joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran on February 28 — to a negotiated close. Despite the violence, President Donald Trump insisted the ceasefire was still technically in place and downplayed the incident with characteristic bluntness.

Armenia Declares It Is Not Russia's Ally in Ukraine War

Armenia has made its position crystal clear — it does not stand with Russia in the war against Ukraine. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said publicly that his country is "not an ally" of Russia, a statement that landed like a thunderbolt in Moscow. The timing made it even more pointed. Just days earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had visited Yerevan for the first time in 24 years to attend the European Political Community summit — a gathering of roughly 48 European leaders that sent a loud signal about which direction Armenia is heading.

US Ends Oil Sanctions Waivers, Targets Iran and Russia

Washington has quietly but firmly shut the door on a policy that had been generating controversy for weeks. The United States has decided not to renew a temporary waiver that had allowed Iranian oil to continue flowing to global markets, and has also let a separate waiver on Russian oil at sea expire without renewal. Two administration officials confirmed the decisions, which mark a sharp pivot toward full enforcement of sanctions that had previously been softened under the banner of energy price relief. The Iranian waiver is set to officially expire on April 19, while the Russian waiver already lapsed over the weekend.
