Tusk and Brzoska Launch Legislative Push in Sejm

A hectic three-day plenary session starts in the Sejm on Tuesday, with more than 30 legislative bills on the agenda. This is one of the most aggressive legislative pushes in recent memory.

Propelling the wave are more than 15 deregulation proposals made by RafaÅ‚ Brzoska’s team. The session marks the start of a new period of fast-track legislating for Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government.

Brzoska Deregulation Very much at the forefront of the priorities list was the Brzoska Deregulation Bills.
The deregulation bills are among the broadest of the ideas.

These are part of an attempt to cut red tape and at the heart of the legislative package. Apart from laws proposed by Brzoska, the Sejm will debate other key reforms, which should be good for the general public as well as headline reforms.

From Next Week Night Hearings Resume as Need Increases
The work in the Sejm has been so frenetic that members of Parliament are set to work deep into the night — a regular practice from the time of the PiS. On Tuesday and Wednesday, sessions are likely to stretch past midnight; Thursday’s meeting is expected to adjourn after 8 p.m.

The resolve stems from an effort by the ruling coalition to get as many bills across the finish line as it can and on to President Andrzej Duda’s desk.

Putin Admits Fuel Shortages Caused by Ukrainian Drone Strikes

Vladimir Putin rarely admits things are going wrong inside Russia. So when the Russian president stood before senior officials on Sunday and openly acknowledged fuel shortages hitting regions across the country, it was the kind of moment worth paying attention to. Queues at petrol stations, supply gaps for businesses, and pressure on the farming sector — Putin named them all, while pointing the finger squarely at Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil infrastructure.

Keir Starmer announced on Monday that he would step down as British Prime Minister, with a successor expected to be in place before Parliament reconvenes in September. The announcement came less than two years after Starmer led Labour to a sweeping election victory that many hoped would bring stability back to British politics. In the end, it was pressure from within his own party that proved impossible to ignore. Nominations to replace him are set to open on July 9, with Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham already emerging as the strong frontrunner.

Flamingo Protests Grow Over Kushner-Linked Albania Resort Plan

A protected coastal lagoon in Albania has become the unlikely flashpoint for a growing environmental and political storm. At the heart of it is a proposed luxury resort connected to Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump. What started as concern over flamingos and fragile ecosystems has quickly snowballed into something much bigger — a public reckoning over corruption, land privatization, and who really gets to decide the fate of protected natural spaces.

At least one prominent foreign policy voice thinks it very well might be.

Ukraine Must Lead Its Own Peace Process, Security Analyst Warns

As European nations quietly work to revive diplomacy around the war in Ukraine, a clear message is emerging from security experts: any peace effort must be built around what Ukraine wants, not what outside powers find convenient. The warning comes at a time when Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are reportedly coordinating with Ukrainian officials on a possible framework for talks with Moscow.
