It is known for its sand environment, and it has become a popular destination for hikers, and cyclists, especially during the warmer months. Large Tourist Project in the Works
In May 2025 a 7km planked cycling and walking route has already opened. The path is 2.5-meter-wide and stretches to the border of Silesian and Lesser Poland voivodeships. But development is not stopping at that. The Klucze Commune has initiated a large investment in expanding the route and forming a better connection between the most important desert tourist attractions.
This second part of the project introduces more than 10 kilometers of new and enhanced routes. These will pass the three main vantage points of the Błędowska Desert – Róża Wiatrów, Czubatka in Klucze and Dąbrówka in Chechło. The extended “Velo Pustynia” route will mainly run along the edge of the desert, leading to the forest and providing a picturesque ride.

Development of New Markets and Flight Destinations
A special feature in the construction is the long wooden footbridges over the Biała Przemsza valley. These a flour can provide a route for pedestrians and cyclists, connecting the northern and southern parts of the desert, there will be bridges of up to 400 meters length, between 2.5 and 3.5 meters high.
When finished, the whole “Velo Pustynia” loop will be more than 20 kilometers. Once you attach it to the nearby “Velo Przemsza” route (taking riders along such spots as Klucze, Golczowice, Kolbark or the historic stronghold in Bydlin) tourists are going to have around 40 kilometers of connected trails at their disposal. This allows for an eclectic blend of desert and timber land for the perfect outdoor cycling adventure experience for families and avid cyclists.

Long-term care and ecological regeneration and successional development
Plans include not only constructing new routes, but also removing shrubs in the desert landscape. That cleanup is set to start in the middle of this year and be finished by the end of 2025, ensuring that the desert remains looking how it does today while allowing visitors to see the landscape better.

For those anxious to experience it now, an existing concrete route is already open, offering a 7-kilometer route through part of the desert to whet appetites for the entire, yet-to-be-completed Velo Pustynia project.
