Police confirmed it in a statement, citing the private drones risked passenger safety near a flight path, “The time horizon remains unknown,” indicating officials did not have a time frame for resuming air traffic.

This caused CBT airports sudden delays of thousands, as Europe’s Nordic transport hub. The airport had received flight tracking data of the delayed traffic starting at 20:26 local time (18:26 GMT). Reported approximately 35 diversions to airports due to the stop of services.

Increased Tension in Europe
This occurred as part of amplified fears in Europe of breaches of airspace made by Russian drones in early September, when resident defense systems stopped at least 20 drones on September 9–10. This led to fears of escalated tensions or testing NATO air defenses.

While officials have not reported connections between the sighted report in the Copenhagen area, any activity from a major airport is concerning for the region. A spokesperson for the airport said the police would be determining the sighted drones and did not elaborate further due to the investigation.

Airport Restores Services after Nearly Four Hours
Copenhagen Airport announced services had been fully restored after halting operations near 2 am on Tuesday, resuming both tariffs and departures.
Copenhagen Airport is the best airport in Scandinavia, supporting millions of passengers annually and a considerable share of the northern European passenger movement.

The temporary halt of operations further illustrates the threat at hand if drones were to penetrate the safety of commercial aviation infrastructure, in an increasingly challenging safety and security landscape of planning and overseeing our airspace and.
