Russia Loses 950 Soldiers in 24 Hours, Ukraine Says

Ukraine's military is reporting that Russian forces lost about 950 soldiers in 24 hours, which would bring Moscow's total personnel losses, since the February 2022 invasion, to more than 1.09 million soldiers. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reports Russian losses to include: 11,169 tanks, 23,261 armoured vehicles, and 32,577 artillery systems, since the beginning of the conflict.

The update was released just after Ukraine conducted an overnight drone strike on Russian territory.

Drone Strikes in Both Countries
Russia's Defence Ministry confirmed that defence systems intercepted a total of 31 drones, two of which were over the Krasnodar region, and 15 over the Black Sea. In Sochi, officials reported a man was killed when debris from a downed drone hit his car.

In Ukraine, regional authorities reported Russian drones targeted Zaporizhzhia. A private home caught fire, and a 66-year-old woman was injured. Emergency services were able to control the fire.

Escalation After Major Attacks
The latest strikes followed what Ukrainian officials said was the largest air attack conducted since the commencement of the conflict. The attack on Kyiv over the weekend resulted in dozens of deaths and damaged key infrastructure.

Russia and Ukraine continue to deny intent to target civilians in the conflict, though neither is visiting sites marked as civilian targets, as conditions worsen and each side continues to suffer losses.
