Suspected Missile Parts Found in Eastern Poland

Polish military police have stated that they have found suspected missile fragments in eastern Lublin. The debris discovered may be tied to a suspected drone incident over Polish airspace last week.

Investigation Underway
Officials said that the Lublin branch of the military police will conduct forensic examinations of the object on Thursday. The investigations will determine if the debris is from a missile that was fired to intercept the drone. Authorities are working to determine the origin and type of debris.

Background on Airspace Violation
This find comes following reports last week that Russian drones had crossed into Polish airspace overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday while Russia attacked Ukraine, a war that has been ongoing since February 2022. NATO jets assisted Poland in the response to the violation, and one of the reported drones was shot down. Russia, much later, said they were not aiming to violate Poland.
