A Race Decided on the Final Climb
Going into Sunday's decisive stage, Niewiadoma-Phinney trailed Vollering by a mere eight seconds, keeping the door wide open for a dramatic finish. True to form, she didn't hold back, launching a bold attack on the final ascent up the Col d'Eze. Vollering, however, matched her rival's effort before finding another gear entirely, breaking away near the summit and building a lead that would prove impossible to close. From there, the gap only grew. By the time both riders crossed the finish line in Nice, Vollering had carved out a commanding margin, ultimately beating Niewiadoma-Phinney by 1 minute and 18 seconds in the final overall standings. The Dutch star held firm through the descent into Nice, sealing both the stage win and her second career Tour de France Femmes title.

Fifth Podium in a Row Keeps Streak Alive
While the yellow jersey slipped away this time, Niewiadoma-Phinney's performance was far from a disappointment. Her runner-up result marks an incredible fifth consecutive podium finish at the Tour de France Femmes, a testament to her consistency at the highest level of the sport. The 31-year-old Polish rider already has a title of her own to her name, having won the race back in 2024 in unforgettable fashion, edging out Vollering by just four seconds in what remains one of the tightest finishes the event has ever seen. Last year, she rounded out the podium in third place before coming back stronger this season to once again challenge for the top spot.
