Ukraine has taken a major step forward in its home-built weapons program, using 15 domestically made systems in a single strike on a Russian port for the very first time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced. A 25-year-old Polish tourist has lost their life following a seaplane crash off the coast of Mauritius on Tuesday afternoon. The aircraft came down onto La Prairie Reef off the island's southwest coast under circumstances that remain under investigation. The tourist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the pilot, an Indian national residing in Mauritius, survived but sustained serious injuries and was transported to a private clinic where they are currently receiving treatment. Mauritian authorities have opened a formal investigation into the cause of the accident and a search operation for debris from the aircraft is underway.
Wild overnight storms delivered a dramatic spectacle above Warsaw, with lightning strikes hitting two of the Polish capital's most recognisable structures. Video footage captured bolts striking the Palace of Culture and Science and Varso Tower, the latter being the tallest building in the European Union, in what became a vivid visual reminder of the severe weather sweeping across the country. The storms coincided with a broad set of weather warnings issued by Polish authorities, covering large parts of the country with alerts for both intense storms and dangerous heat that are expected to persist through much of the week.
