Russia is believed to have enhanced its Iskander-M and Kinzhal missile systems to make it more difficult for Ukraine's Patriot air defence systems to intercept these missiles and hit their targets. The upgrades change the original flight path, allowing them to steeply dive to targets or move at the last moment to circumvent interception success.
President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia would respond quickly if Europe provoked it and blamed NATO states for their direct support for Ukraine in the ongoing conflict. The search for a suspected mass grave from the World War II period has begun in southern Poland by Ukrainians. The search operation begins September 30, 2023, and will search for the burial site of members of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Historians suspect that approximately 20 fighters are buried under a forest in the area of the village of Jureczkowa, in Poland.
Warsaw is gearing up to introduce new regulations on alcohol sales as part of a city-wide ban at night. Starting on June 1, 2026, it will no longer be legal to sell any alcohol during late-night hours until 6 a.m. The news was shared by Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski and will bring the capital in line with a growing number of Polish cities that have done the same thing recently.
Air traffic at the busiest airport in Denmark was paused in the evening on Monday after large drones were spotted flying near Copenhagen Airport. Authorities were able to confirm that the operations for departures and arrivals were halted following reports of 2 to 3 drones in the area.
On Tuesday, Russian authorities confirmed that anti-aircraft units had shot down a large number of Ukrainian drones. The drones were inbound to Moscow, Crimea, and additional areas of western Russia. The Defence Ministry stated that one of the largest reported strikes by drones in months, a total of 150 drones, was intercepted from late Monday to early Tuesday.
Polish military police have stated that they have found suspected missile fragments in eastern Lublin. The debris discovered may be tied to a suspected drone incident over Polish airspace last week.
