Two Polish men are in custody on suspicion of committing hate crimes following an alleged violent attack against a Ukrainian couple riding the tram in Poznań. This case was highlighted as a result of a video recording showing the incident, and it went viral on social media before police took action after receiving no formal complaint from the alleged victims of the attack on the tram.
According to a recent survey, the number of Poles who would be willing to fight for the country if Poland were to be threatened by war has decreased. Overall, the current results indicate a marked decline in confidence and an increase in uncertainty amongst the Polish population.

Officers of the Polish Border Guard have intercepted a drone carrying approximately 400 packets of smuggled cigarettes believed to have originated from Belarus. The drone was discovered in a wooded area located in the vicinity of Krynki in the province of Podlaskie, which is close to the border with Belarus. Officials stated that the operation commenced after a nearby resident notified the authorities, leading to police and fire services attending to the scene and securing it. The Border Guard reported that all of the cigarette packets had Belarusian excise stamps. "Inside the drone, Border Guard officers found about 400 packs of cigarettes. Further actions in this case are being undertaken by the Border Guard," officials said.
On Thursday, Vilnius Airport in Lithuania was temporarily closed because of weather balloon reports seen flying near its airspace. Authorities confirmed that air traffic was shut down at the capital's main airport as a precautionary step.
The government of Hungary is taking precautionary measures to ensure its fuel supply in anticipation of tightened U.S. sanctions against Russian oil companies.
